Position reports to the Purchasing Manager at Norbord’s mill in Joanna, South Carolina

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Control the best products and suppliers in terms of best value, delivery schedules and quality
  • Build and maintain good relationships with new and existing suppliers
  • Monitor the quality of service provided by suppliers
  • Keep contract files and use them as reference for the future
  • Forecast levels of demand for services and products
  • Keep a constant check on stock levels, know and maintain critical and repairable items, rotate and maintain stock
  • Track and report key functional metrics to reduce expenses and improve effectiveness
  • Inventory control


  • Knowledge of CMMS, Project/Planning
  • Proficiency in the use of computers is required
  • Ability to make important decisions and cope with the pressure of demanding targets and tight deadlines
  • Ability to gather and analyze data and to work with figures
  • Solid judgement along with decision making skills
  • Desire to take personal responsibility for department and direct other members
  • Strong leadership capabilities
  • Must be able to work overtime as required, availability at all hours
  • Mechanically/electrical inclined
  • Willing to assist with other mills off Joanna mill site
  • Time management
  • Experience in store room environment
  • Minimum of 3 years work experience in manufacturing environment
