Reporting directly to the Vice President of IT, the Development Manager will be responsible for all activities related to planning, design, development and implementation of software solutions within the IT organization.

Furthermore, the Development Manager should have in-depth technical knowledge and understanding of software development methodologies.  In a collaborative team environment, the Development Manager will interact with different stakeholder groups to provide both technical leadership and project management expertise on software development projects.

As an experienced leader, you will lead, coach and direct a team of high performing software developers to design, build software solutions to support the organization’s goals, needs and manage them accordingly.

  • Motivating teams to collaborate, communicate, and deliver on commitments, including driving ownership and accountability
  • Design and develop systematic approaches to solving complex and ambiguous problems, and provide thought leadership and establish technical vision for the team
  • Facilitate software architecture/design/implementations inclusive of overseeing development projects to meet business requirements and goals, fulfill end-user requirements, and identify and resolve systems issues
  • Research and development (R&D) for the function to keep on top of relevant emerging technology and trends
  • Facilitating planning activities with key milestones, monitoring progress against plans, and determining appropriate corrective action if straying from plan
  • Take part in development activities as needed


  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in software development is required, with at least 3+ years’ experience as a People Manager in a software development environment
  • In-depth knowledge and expertise in software development, project management, software systems development on a variety of platforms
  • Proven track record of delivering increasingly complex projects while managing a team of multiple developers
  • Ability to think strategically, execute effectively, and deliver high quality work against tight deadlines, while guiding others through complexity, ambiguity, and uncertainty
  • Strong analytical skills and structured approach to coding (requirements gathering and definition, documentation, refactoring, best practices)
  • Working knowledge of agile and waterfall development methodologies
  • Understanding of relational database design (SQL Server, Oracle), combined with knowledge of object oriented programming languages (Java, C#, or similar languages), and front-end web interfaces
  • Working knowledge of the Unix/Linux operating system, and Windows programming techniques
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related field is required
