Manager IT, PMO


The Information Technology Department is a dynamic team accountable for the delivery of all IT projects and the system support for of all of Norbord’s IT systems and infrastructure. The IT team works closely with Finance, Procurement, HR, EHS and Sales, Marketing and Logistics and the Mill Operations Teams.

The IT Department is currently seeking a Manager of the IT Program Management Office (PMO) who will report to the Vice President of IT. The successful candidate will work closely with the Vice President IT and IT managers to support and enable day-to-day operations of the IT department, track and communicate IT performance results to IT internal and external audiences, and ensure that the IT department is compliant with corporate policies and working towards meeting IT objectives.

Principal Accountabilities:

  • Establish, monitor and report on KPI metrics and status to the management team
  • Support IT strategic, work program and budget planning
  • Support IT project governance, compliance and reporting, including the identification and analysis of compliance trends
  • Provide guidance to IT team members in the completion of project documentation such as project charters, business requirements documents, status reports and plans
  • Track and report IT financial performance including preparing and submitting the monthly forecasts and accruals
  • Develop and manage the IT front door process for IT system enhancements, projects, assessment and resource requests and their associated routing
  • Assist in the staffing of IT initiatives
  • Communicate IT plans and policies throughout the IT organization
  • Develop and monitor the annual operating and capital budgets for IT and supporting infrastructure
  • Capture and track IT policies, contracts and agreements
  • Communicate IT plans and policies throughout the IT organization
  • Identify opportunities for IT process improvement, seek buy-in and then help implement them

Experience and Competencies:

The successful candidate will have the following qualifications:

  • 5+ years of practical project management experience
  • Experience managing IT programs and projects
  • Superior oral and written communication skills including MS PowerPoint
  • Superior financial tracking and reporting skills including MS Excel
  • Track record of building strong relationships with both internal and external stakeholders
  • Self-starter with ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment towards successful completion
  • Able to sift through data to identify trends and develop relevant and meaningful KPIs to channel the focus of the organization
  • Strong facilitation skills in being able to pull together resources to address issues and determine path forward
  • University degree and PMP or equivalent certification an asset
