Reporting to the Manager of Corporate Procurement, the Corporate Buyer is responsible for monitoring, analyzing and reporting of Norbord’s corporate spend.  This individual will utilize expert knowledge to purchase goods and services at the most favourable price for the company, while simultaneously building and maintaining strategic relationships with key suppliers and internal stakeholders. Over time, this position will evolve to include corporate reporting responsibilities within Norbord’s ERP system and centralized procurement of key materials for the mills.


  • Work directly with the Corporate departments to manage their vendor selection and pricing through the Purchase Requisition review process in Microsoft AX.
  • Provide expertise and support to the Corporate departments to solicits bids from vendors and negotiate pricing and purchase details.
  • Coordinate options and additional specifications between requestors and suppliers.
  • Monitor and report on market conditions and trends as they relate to the cost and performance (including economic, legislative, political and environmental factors) of commodity based raw materials, natural gas and electricity.
  • Responsible for regular reporting of corporate spend.
  • Update Procurement KPIs and Dashboards for all levels of management.
  • Perform data consolidation and analytics as required.
  • Regular review and auditing of Norbord’s Procurement Policy.
  • Support the Corporate Procurement Manager in creating and maintaining partnerships with vendors by procuring assigned materials and services in a professional manner to promote the most effective use of company funds.
  • Continually work to improve quality, delivery and total costs through programs which improve profitability.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Operations Management, Supply Chain, or other relevant area preferred.
  • 5+ years’ experience in Direct and Indirect Purchasing, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
  • Specific experience in commodity based product purchasing a plus.
  • Strong technical acumen of purchasing within an ERP.
  • Understanding of the requirements of operating in a publicly traded organization in accordance with SOX controls.
  • Ability to communicate with all levels of employees and all types of suppliers.
  • Self-starter and a team player.
  • Ability to travel within North America: 10% travel may be required.
