Overview and Performance

Norbord is committed to protecting our employees, the environment and the communities in which we operate.

Our business success requires full compliance with all environmental, health and safety laws and regulations that affect our operations. We understand the need for sustainable development and have integrated environment, health and safety considerations into all aspects of our business plan.

We continue to take aggressive measures to reduce our impact on the environment, minimize the risk of injuries and promote a safe and healthy working environment. The involvement of every Norbord employee is critical to achieving success. Our Environment and Health and Safety policies clearly express our beliefs and how we measure performance.

The Ontario Toxics Reduction Act 2009 and Ontario Regulation 455/09 aim to prevent pollution and protect human health and the environment by reducing the use and creation of toxic substances.

The act requires regulated facilities to:

  • Track and quantify the toxic substances that they use and create
  • Develop plans to reduce the use and creation of these substances
  • Make summaries of their plans available to the public
