Handling & Storage

Fast Facts

  • Store OSB panels flat, indoors and under cover and protected from the elements.
  • Align all blocking/supports on stacked units.
  • If stored outdoors, keep panels off the ground and on a flat base. Cover loosely to allow air circulation at the sides.
  • Inventories should be used on a first-in, first-out basis.
  • OSB should not be exposed to the weather or moisture on a continuous basis. However, Exposure – 1 exterior bond rating means that unprotected exposure during normal construction period will not adversely affect the structural properties.
  • Panels should be handled and stored with care to avoid damage. OSB sheathing is an engineered-wood product and is subject to natural expansion and contraction due to changes in humidity and temperature.
  • Download our Onsite App for the 3 Easy Steps to OSB installation and installation videos.
  • Follow us on Twitter and read our blog as these sites are full of useful and relevant information.
  • If units are stacked, the blocking/supports must be aligned to prevent warping.
