Today’s home buyers look for homes that utilize products that can reduce their energy costs, improve indoor air quality and are environmentally responsible. Windstorm structural sheathing can help meet those initiatives. Windstorm wall sheathing is made from SFI Chain of Custody fibre. Recently completed testing by the APA “The Engineered Wood Association” and the NAHB Research Center, for Norbord, clearly show that Windstorm wall sheathing can meet high wind code requirements for combined shear and uplift. This means less metal wall hardware, no blocking, faster construction time and less impact on the environment. Using Windstorm means no horizontal joints and less air infiltration. With less air infiltration and no added urea formaldehyde resins Windstorm can have a positive impact on indoor air quality.
All Windstorm structural panels are SFI Chain of Custody certified and some sizes may be available with FSC certification.
Windstorm Wall Sheathing can help meet your green building initiatives such as the National Green Building Standard and LEED. Windstorm is certified by the NAHB Research Center as an “Approved Green Product” for the National Green Building Standard. Below you will find those certificates and other information sheets that will help you determine what practices and points may be available to you when Windstorm is used. All Norbord OSB including Trubord, TallWall, TruFlor, Pinnacle, Solarbord, Stabledge and Rimboard are “Approved Green Products” and can help you meet your initiatives.
Forest Certificates are available in the “Forest Certifications” section.
