Installation
Norbord structural panels are to be installed according to the APA’s (The Engineered Wood Association) Construction Guide E30 and the appropriate building code. Below are some key installation points.

- Make sure joist, rafter or stud alignment is uniform and square.
- Allow a minimum of 1/8" along all edges (T&G joints are to be lightly butted together).
- When used as roof or floor sheathing, OSB must be installed with the grade stamp down.
- All panels should be continuous over two or more spans.
- In roof applications panels must be installed in the long direction, perpendicular to the supports.
- All end joints should be staggered and on supports.
- Provide 3/4" expansion joints so no continuous section of panels exceed 80 feet in length.
- Fastener spacing*
- Gluing sub-floor panels is always recommended and may be required. We recommend the use of PL 400 subfloor adhesive. At a minimum, sub-floor adhesives must meet current industry test standards. If glue is used, apply only enough glue to install 2 or 3 panels at a time and fully fasten the panels before continuing.
- Building codes require an impermeable moisture barrier on top of the ground cover in all crawl spaces.
- Prior to application, acclimatization of Norbord OSB to surroundings for at least 24 hours is recommended.
- When applicable, span ratings, durability and mill identification are included in the grade stamp on every panel.
- Norbord OSB Panels are certified by the APA - The Engineered Wood Association
