1987 Listed publicly on TSX as Noranda Forest Inc. (NF)  
1988 Acquired Inverness OSB plant – UK’s first OSB operation  
1989 Acquired Normick Perron sawmills and panel mills in northern
Quebec and Ontario
 
1993 Divested 49% interest in MacMillan Bloedel for $594 million  
1995 Completed construction on new greenfield OSB plant in Guntown, Mississippi, closely followed by a new OSB mill at La Sarre, Quebec
Formed joint venture with Glunz AG and became largest panel
producer in UK
 
1998 Noranda Forest Inc. name changed to Nexfor Inc.  
1999 Acquired 100% ownership in UK panel business
Sold 50% interest in Northwood Inc. for $170 million
 
2000 Opened OSB plant at Joanna, South Carolina
Acquired Juniper I-joist plant in New Brunswick
 
2001 Opened Barton OSB plant at Huguley, Alabama  
2002 Acquired OSB mills in Cordele, Georgia; Jefferson, Texas;
Nacogdoches, Texas for $250 million
 
2003 Sold Quebec sawmills for pre-tax gain of $19 million  
2004 Acquired remaining 50% of Bemidji OSB mill
Distributed paper, timberlands business to shareholders. Nexfor Inc. renamed Norbord Inc. (NBD)
Acquired OSB/particleboard mill in Genk, Belgium for $64 million
 
2006 Began production on second OSB line at Cordele, Georgia  
2007 Reached agreement to sell Juniper I- Joist Assets  
2008 Confirmed closure of Particleboard Line at Genk, Belgium  
2009 Formed a 50/50 Joint Venture hardwood plywood business with Kruger Inc.
