Caberfix is the new flooring system from engineered wood-based panel manufacturer, Norbord.
Based on Norbord’s popular Caberdek tongue-and-groove particleboard floor panel, the Caberfix concept is designed to speed up installation and deliver a high quality squeak-free floor at competitive prices.
The Caberfix system matches the Caberdek P5 flooring board with two types of adhesive - Caberfix T&G and Caberfix Joint&Joist – and a 100% waterproof polyethylene-coated cloth tape.
Caberfix T&G is a strong PVA D3 glue for joining boards along the tongue-and-groove joints; Caberfix Joint&Joist is a fast-setting polyurethane elastomeric adhesive which creates a structural bond between the floorboards and the supporting joist.
Joint&Joist has unique shock and noise absorbing properties and is used instead of mechanical fixings to produce a squeak-free floor. Instead of the 17 fixings per board normally required for traditional floors, the Caberfix system needs only three nails per board to support the joint while the adhesive cures.
For optimum value and efficiency, Norbord recommends its CaberfixPro kit. This contains everything the user needs to install 50m² of flooring, namely: 1kg of Caberfix T&G adhesive for T&G joints; seven 310ml Caberfix Joint&Joist adhesive cartridges and six 25 meter rolls of Caberfix Tape. Two kits will suffice for every pack of Caberdek floor boards.
As well as doing away with a lot of guesswork, the CaberfixPro kit will save the average builder up to 30 minutes per 50m² of floor. Merchants and dealers also benefit as the CaberfixPro kit adds value to Caberdek by creating a highly saleable BBA-approved system that will produce superior results and speed up installation.
Norbord has designed new, improved packaging and a keen price structure to get Caberfix off to a flying start; and the launch of the new range is being accompanied by a major advertising campaign to create awareness and stimulate demand.
Caberfix was developed following extensive research among Norbord customers, says national brand manager, Mike Buick: “We analysed feedback from our customers on the range of fixing products they use and developed Caberfix in response to that.
“While traditional materials and methods are still available, Caberfix represents a major step forward in both quality and value” adds Mike.
