With temperatures plummeting to below -30ºC in some months, a teen ranch in Poland desperately needed warm accommodation for the campers. As Norbord did a sterling job providing OSB for a teen ranch in Scotland, the company was asked to help.

Before the new accommodation was built, the campsite had the facilities to provide only tents for the campers, which was fine during the two hot summer months. However, the campsite was closed for ten months of the year due to the cold temperatures in winter.

130 sheets of SterlingOSB were used to build eight chalets for the camp so that 32 children at a time can be accommodated and entertained together all year round! With Norbord’s help, the build was complete in one week.

Bob Ockenden, Director of Teen Ranch, commented “Norbord first helped us to improve a holiday facility for children at Kilravock Castle near Nairn in Scotland. With that project finished and the offer of “if we can we would help again,” I made contact again about our work in Poland.”

He explained, “The project has extended our season from the middle of spring to the middle of autumn doubling the time the camp can be open to fulfil its goals; to provide a well-balanced programme providing for the physical, social, emotional and spiritual needs of the youth of Poland.”
