Until now, designers and contractors using medium density fibreboard (MDF) in areas subject to dampness – such as kitchens and bathrooms – have risked deterioration of the board due to repeated exposure to moisture. However, this problem has now been eliminated, thanks to Caberwood MDF Moisture Resistant.
Moisture resistant MDF is designed for interior applications that may be subject to occasional wetting or exposure to humidity. As well as being ideal for use in kitchens and bathrooms, the product is perfect for use in window sills, skirting boards and door architraves.
Available in a range of thicknesses from 6mm to 30mm, Caberwood MDF Moisture Resistant can be used for anything that Standard MDF is suitable for, with the added advantage that it will not be damaged by contact with moisture.
At 13 kg/sq m, Moisture Resistant Caberwood has the same density as Caberwood MDF Standard and is manufactured to the same exacting dimensional tolerances. It has a high internal bond strength and an even texture and can be machined easily to a smooth finish. Its consistent strength gives Caberwood MDF Moisture Resistant superior holding of screws and other fixings.
Caberwood MDF Moisture Resistant is coloured green to distinguish it from Standard MDF, which is a natural light brown colour. However, like Standard MDF, Moisture Resistant can be treated with a huge variety of surface finishes including gloss or matt paints, stains or foils.
The uniform density of Caberwood MDF means that perpendicular or moulded edges do not reveal core voids which require the application of elaborate fillers or adhesive-bonded edging strips before finishing.
Like all Norbord products, Caberwood MDF Moisture Resistant is made from timber certified by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC). The FSC label guarantees that the product is from sustainably-managed forests. Caberwood is also tested to BS EC 120, the European emissions standard, and classified E1, meaning that formaldehyde resin emissions are less than 8mg/100g and the material is safe to use. |
