Are you up for a little interior inspiration? If you feel it’s about time to clear the clutter in your household then get creative with Norbord’s Contiboard. How about all those books piled up on top of one another? Perhaps you’ve amassed a collection of cookery books, A-Zs or gardening books, plus they’re all different sizes! A bespoke bookcase created from Contiboard is the perfect solution! Or maybe you would like to display your trinkets and treasures in your own home-made cabinet this Christmas. It’s time to step out of your comfort zone and here is one simple idea to get you started:

Triangular bookcase

Preparation

Cut your panels to the length you require before fixing, then mark out and pre-drill all the panels. For this particular example you will need seven 2m length x 325mm width boards and three 2m length x 150mm boards. Please note: all-through drilling should be started from the visible side.

Tools required:

Square, measuring tape and pencil.
Electric power saw with the correct blade or hand saw (14 teeth per 25mm).
Screwdriver, screws, sharp marking and trimming knife.
Electric iron, plain paper, block.
Drill with 3mm and 5mm drill bits.

1. Assemble the two triangular units.

Fix the base and side panel of the first triangular unit together to create a right angle, using the appropriate screws (we recommend 50mm long chipboard screws). Repeat for the second triangular unit. For added stability you can use wooden dowels.

2. Position and fix the shelves using the same method as step one.

3. Position and fix your bracing bar.

To position the bracing bar correctly, you should measure the distance between the shelves near the end panel, making sure this is the same measurement as at the end where the bracing bar is to be fitted. After fitting, you can trim any excess wood from the bracing bar using a fine tooth saw. Repeat for the second triangular unit.

4. Assemble the centre unit.

Fix the base and side panel of your centre unit together using the appropriate screws (we recommend 50mm long chipboard screws). Add shelves (these can be spaced to suit your requirements). Repeat for the second end panel.

Please note: for stability, it is recommended that the three units are joined together using joining bolts. All exposed edges can be covered using Conti iron on edging tape.

6. Sit back, relax and enjoy your finished product.

Conti recently launched four new colours to the range of finishes so you can now choose from cream, traditional oak effect, walnut effect and chocolate oak effect finishes, in addition to cherry effect, rift beech effect, oak effect, maple effect and white. All panels are available in the new 18mm thickness and 2m length, with widths of 150mm, 250mm, 325mm, 450mm and 600mm.
