Norbord, the UK’s largest manufacturer of engineered wood-based panels, predicts that demand will continue to rise for the antique, rustic look of oak in kitchen furniture and has released the new Lancelot Oak finish within its Caberdecor range to ensure a consistent finish is available for doors and surroundings.
Norbord believes there is a strengthening market for this look; the market is increasingly moving towards oak finishes. Norbord customers are launching door ranges and Norbord has introduced Lancelot Oak to enable them to match these to end panels in kitchens.
The scratch-proof, stain-proof and heat-proof melamine board is available either directly from Norbord for volume purchases or via distribution. Norbord expects demand for Lancelot Oak to be greatest among small and medium sized door manufacturers, a number of whom are already placing orders for the product.
Whilst the veneer market might regard the finish as having too many defects, it is precisely this that makes Lancelot Oak so appealing and so natural. It is very stylish and highly cost effective.
The traditional wood-look for Lancelot Oak is based on a design originating in Barcelona, Spain, reflecting the strong southern Mediterranean feel of the finish. As well as knots and black spots, Lancelot Oak even features ‘knife marks’ that will often appear in real wood veneer.
From its factory in Devon, Norbord machine laminates melamine on the back of board for door companies, and small to medium-sized kitchen and bedroom designers. Norbord produces a range of engineered wood-based boards for the construction, furniture, interior design, shopfitting and DIY industries. All Norbord products are ISO 9002 registered and all raw materials are carefully selected with regard to health and environmental considerations.
